Fall Protection Hazard Awareness
Tuesday, Mar 26th, 2024

Falls continue to be the number one cause of injuries and deaths on construction job sites. Fall Protection and Fall Protection Training are in the top 10 citations issued to employers.

There are too many workers not properly trained or not trained in a language they understand - the LWSC has been addressing this problem and over the last 10 years has developed this Fall Protection Hazard Awareness certificate  training to help workers and companies develop a more professional workforce.

This 4-hour class covers the recognition of fall hazards, the requirements for fall protection, the personal protective equipment selection and the approved methods used to prevent on construction sites. .

Training includes OSHA requirements, the use of ladders, fall protection on scaffolds,  guardrail systems, safety net systems, warning line systems, and controlled access zones.

The training explains to workers that safety is part of being a professional. They are encouraged to address fall protection issues with their employers and as a last resort, to refuse unsafe work!

We encourage and help employers understand how to create fall protection plans and site safety plans. To create a safe workforce from which they will benefit in many ways!

Fall Protection is a concerted effort: Workers must be trained. Supervisors should also be trained. The contractor should have a good safety program and site specific safety plan. Employers must enforce fall protection practices at thier jobsites.
